DSBN flips on initial spectator ban for outdoor football games

When the school year started for the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) on September 7, all classrooms opened immediately.
However, surprisingly, not long afterwards the DSBN announced they wouldn’t have spectators at their outdoor football games.
A little parental pride (and pressure) went a long way as the DSBN rescinded that plan and yesterday (September 27) declared the football stands will be open for business.
An online petition started circulating, calling for the Board to allow spectators to watch games.
Entitled “Let There Be Fans at DSBN Football Games’, the petition stated the rule didn’t make sense since the Ontario government allows spectators at outdoor sports games – like the Blue Jays and CFL games – allowing as many as 30,000 fans in the stands.
Apparently, the DSBN agreed and relented. The sole caveat was that spectators maintain COVID-19 protocols and properly distance.
