Two brothers from Welland have been charged in connection with a series of break-ins at Pelham businesses over two days last weekend.
Niagara Regional Police say the cash registers and safes were targeted at nine businesses broken into last Saturday and Sunday, leading to the theft of more than $35,000 in cash.
An investigation into the multiple break-and-enters led police to execute a search warrant on Thursday at two homes in Welland.
“Clothing, shoes and property were seized,” police said. “Two vehicles and a motorcycle were also seized as proceeds of crime.”
Police also recovered property from one of the break-in locations.
Jonathan Andrew Mamone, 29, and Steven Anthony Mamone, also 29, both of Welland, are each charged with:
- break, enter and commit (nine counts)
- fail to comply with release order
- breach of probation
They were held in custody for a video bail hearing to take place Friday.
