The Grand Buffet is finally back at Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls this week.
The restaurant will open Thursday (July 21) though the Falls Deli, also a Fallsview tenant, has been sporadically using the vacant property as overflow for its own customers. However, that was with the Deli’s menu only.
When the Grand Buffet reopens, it is promising a bigger, better version of itself.
“We are excited to bring back a new version of the Grand Buffet that re-opens with quality, efficiencies and safety as our top priority for our guests,” said the restaurant.
“The Grand Buffet will be serving some of your favourite selections and introducing new ones, still with the freshness and quality you have come to expect from us.”
What remains unclear is the serving format as they suggest it may differ. “We are also introducing an improved customer experience, including faster seating service and a focus on reducing our food waste.”
Some buffet in tourist towns such as Las Vegas have altered the self-serve style, having servers come to your table taking the order rather than people crowding around the buffet food area.
That said, the eatery insists, “Our commitment has not changed, and our team will ensure you enjoy this new experience and all your favourite items, while also providing you a safe dining environment.”
As for the menu, it promises, “the buffet offers a variety of different cuisines and stations including Canadian favourites, carved meats, authentic Italian, Asian and Middle-Eastern cuisine accompanied by an abundance of fresh seafood, with an array of hot and cold items, and handmade sushi.”
One former customer, London resident Mark Anderson, who frequented the buffet with his wife Liz, was happy to hear about the reopening though hopes the breakfast sitting will return.
“I loved their Breakfast Buffet. The omelet station was my go-to,” he said. “Definitely was a great value before COVID hit.”
