A threat to one is a threat to all as far as the Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) is concerned.

When the NCDSB said they received a threat to one of their schools this morning (June 19), for safety reasons, they placed a ‘hold and secure’ on all of their schools “out of an abundance of caution.”

While the NCDSB made it clear that both staff and students were moving about freely within that particular school – as well as the other 56 schools region-wide – they are asking parents not to come to the school as no one is allowed in or out.

The ‘hold-and-secure’ as it pertains to schools is a “response to a threat and/or incident in the general vicinity of a school, but not on or very near to school property. School life continues as normal inside the school; however, as a precautionary measure, outer doors are locked and no one enters or leaves the building.”

The Niagara Police indicated that they are investigating the anonymous “unverified” threat and will release “more information when possible.” The school board has indicated likewise and will contact parents through the school messenger.
