Two more COVID-19 deaths in Niagara Region in the last three days

Niagara Region saw another COVID-19 death over the weekend plus one today (September 20), pushing the region to 428 over the run of the virus, starting in March 2020.
In a region of 448,000 residents, that represents 0.095 per cent of the total population.
With 36 new cases Saturday (September 18) and an additional 28 cases Sunday, the region saw another 29 today (September 20), pushing the total cases to 285..
Again, it’s the Delta variant hitting the region hard with 15 per cent of the cases confirmed as the strain and the remaining 85 being called “likely” the variant.
Niagara Falls leads the case-load with 80 followed closely by St Catharines at 76. Welland has 28 cases just ahead of Thorold at 21.
The remaining eight municipalities are recording between one and 16 cases.
