Anti-Pride protestors at the District School Board of Niagara headquarters were met in kind by counter-protesting parents today (June 16).

The anti-pride protest set up in the DSBN parking lot at 191 Carlton St. in St. Catharines, yelling “leave the kids alone” but before long, it turned into a two-sided affair with their grievances being jeered by a much smaller group of counter-protesting pro-Pride parents.

Many of the anti-Pride protestors are well-known from their association with the anti-Trudeau trucker movement.

News of the protest landed with St. Catharines MP Chris Bittle, who condemned the actions.

“I’ve heard that there are anti-Pride Protests in St Catharines today with the focus on educational institutions,” said Bittle. “At its core, this is purely hate and is an attempt to send a message to children that they are not welcome and to demonstrate their schools are not safe.”

“To the counter protesters standing up to these cowards, please stay safe.”

Bittle continued that his constituency office at 61 Geneva St has both Pride signs, as well as Canada Day signs. “I do have a way to show support and demonstrate to 2SLGBT kids that they are loved in St Catharines.”
