The bad news for St. Catharines one-bedroom apartment seekers is that the prices jumped 2.5 per cent from May to June, according to the latest report from Rentals.ca.

Only four Canadian cities on a list of 35 saw higher jumps – Vancouver (4 per cent), Cambridge (3 per cent), Montreal (3.3 per cent), and Calgary (3.4 per cent).

However, the good news is that at $1,712/month, St. Catharines average one-bedroom units are still below the national average of $1,837/month.

In fact, St. Catharines and Montreal, a far larger urban centre with 4.3 million residents, matched the average one-bedroom price at $1,712/month.

St. Catharines one-bedroom units jumped 11.8 per cent from June 2022.

However, average two-bedroom units in the Garden City fared a little better, going up 1.9 per cent from May to reach $1,993/month, an increase of 5.4 per cent from June 2022.
