Canadian country music legend Tim Hicks will be the headliner for the Opening Ceremony of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games.

Musically-speaking, the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games are set to open with a bang… and close with one.

The Opening Ceremonies, being held at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines on August 6 at 8 pm, will feature Canadian country music legend Tim Hicks and songstress POESY, whose single “Steel Hearts” will become the Games anthem.

Two weeks later, on August 21 at 8:30 pm, Paul Langlois, guitarist of The Tragically Hip will join POESY at Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls for the closing ceremonies.

While the opening ceremonies involved getting a ticket, the closing festivities will be open to the public free-of-charge.

The Opening Ceremony at the Meridian Centre will begin with a “Parade of Teams”, where Games participants will march into the stadium, one provincial or territorial team at a time.

Each team’s delegation will be led by their chosen flag bearer who will carry their flag into the event. The Opening Ceremony will also feature an artistic program that will showcase Niagara’s culture and history in an entertaining and creative way.

To close out the 28th edition of the Canada Games, participants and spectators alike will be treated to a party-like atmosphere at the Closing Ceremony, which will celebrates the achievements of the Games athletes right across from one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders — Niagara Falls.

Along with another “Parade of Teams,” the Closing Ceremony will bring an official end to the 2022 Canada Games.
