While originally slated to be done by Spring 2020, the usual delays caused by the pandemic meant the Val Fleming Butterfly Garden at Lincoln’s Rotary Park has to be delayed until this week.

From May 2 to May 6, the town announced that an external contractor will be in to plant the garden this week and are sharing up these cautions for residents using the park.

“The walking trails through the butterfly garden may be temporarily blocked off while planting is being completed,” said Lincoln, adding, “Please be mindful of the plants and stay off flower beds to allow them to establish in their new location.”

For well over 30 years, Art and Val Fleming were huge, often discrete, financial contributors for a large number of Niagara projects through their Fleming Foundation.

Both Flemings were especially loved at Brock University where Val graduated in 1972. She was a Brock school trustee for a number of years and was made a Trustee Emeriti in February 2016.

“Being a Trustee Emeriti makes me feel even more connected to Brock – more than ever, after going there as a student myself and being on the Board of Trustees for six years. Brock has done so much to let me know that my support is recognized and appreciated and I will forever be grateful for that,” she said at the time.
