Bruce Cockburn will be bringing 50 years of music to the stage at FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre next Thursday.

There’s something for Canadian music lovers and comedy aficionados alike coming to St. Catharines FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre next week.

First up are the laughs as the Just For Laughs Road Show hits the stage on Tuesday, April 26 at 7: 30 pm in Partridge Hall.

“Hosted by Juno nominated stand-up and SiriusXM Top Comic Winner Adam Christie, the evening will feature CONAN’s Laurie Kilmartin,The Daily Show’s Josh Johnson, and Australia’s beloved Randy Feltface,” said the FirstOntario website.

“Don’t miss some of the best acts from the world’s largest and most prestigious comedy festival when the Just For Laughs Road Show rolls across Ontario this spring!”

Two nights later on April 28 is legendary Canadian folk-rock singer Bruce Cockburn.

With 34 album releases, over 350 songs written, 13 JUNO wins, two Hall of Fame inductions, countless honorary Doctorates, Officer of the Order of Canada and new inductee into Canada’s Walk of Fame all spanning a more than 50 year career, Cockburn’s songwriting towards the 1980s became increasingly urban, global and political as he became more involved with progressive causes.

“it’s no small task to encapsulate Bruce Cockburn’s inimitable imprint when it comes to Canadian music and culture,” said FirstOntario.

“The Canadian legend recently celebrated 50 years in the business by curating a double album, Bruce Cockburn Greatest Hits (1970 – 2020), a definitive collection that meticulously corrals the acclaimed singer/songwriter’s most favoured tracks – from songs that shot to the top of the charts upon release, to long-lauded fan-favourites requested on tour, time and time again. His performance on the Partridge Hall stage will bring the greatest hits collection to life.”

Fellow Canadian musician Buffy Sainte-Marie has said of Cockburn, “Bruce is an agitator, an activist, a protester. He writes words that move the needle of public opinion and that shine the light on injustices.”
