Although the holidays are not quite upon us–Halloween is still a few weeks away, after all–major venues are gearing up to welcome the festive season, including the relatively new Exchange venue in Niagara Falls.

Recently, the city announced that the Niagara Falls Exchange (5943 Sylvia Place) will host a brand new holiday market, Deck the Halls, on Sunday, Nov. 17.

The one-day, which will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., is free to attend and will feature a Polar Express trackless train, a craft station for kids, over 30 vendors, a s’mores station and Santa Claus.

The event will also be pet-friendly, according to the city.

As far as vendors go, organizers say attendees can peruse a selection of handcrafted goods, artisanal products and holiday decorations. Some vendors scheduled to appear at the event include A Gift For You, Bubble Scrubbies, Canna Aromas, Handmade by Karthi, Jumping Jake Dog Co., A Touch of Clay, Poetic Grace and more.

As far as activities go, there will be a wood log centrepiece workshop run by Country Basket Garden Centre that will allow guests to create a festive decoration for their table, mantle or windowsill. The workshop costs $55 and will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Kids can also participate in crafting sessions and create wooden ornaments, snowman ornaments, and wreath ornaments. The sessions are $4 per person or $10 for three people.

Kids will also be able to visit with Santa, and volunteers will be able to take pictures with guests’ phones and cameras.

In terms of food, Mahtay at the Exchange will offer a selection of seasonal hot and cold drinks, along with various food options. Adirondack chairs and picnic tables will be arranged around propane fires, where s’mores can be purchased.

The entire weekend is expected to be festive, as the Niagara Falls Santa Claus Parade is scheduled for Nov. 16.
