CLOSURE: 2 restaurants temporarily closed after health inspections in Niagara Region

Health inspectors temporarily closed two Niagara Region restaurants due to evidence of pest infestations.
Niagara Region Public Health closed Paninoteca @ Royal DeMaria Winery at 4551 Cherry Ave. in Beamsville on Aug. 10.
The restaurant showed evidence of a rodent infestation, the public health report states.
The restaurant was not protected against of pests nor was it kept free from conditions that lead to harbouring or breeding of pests, the report states.
There were also cleanliness issues and raw food was not kept separate from cooked and/or ready-to-eat foods during storage and handling.
Public Health also closed Flavors and Spices at 5500 Victoria Ave., Niagara Falls on Aug. 7. But the restaurant reopened Aug. 8 following another inspection, which found no infractions.
There was evidence of an insect infestation, the Aug. 6 report states. The restaurant was not protected against the entrance of pests nor was it kept free from conditions that lead to harbouring or breeding of pests, the report states.
