Curbside giveaway returning to Niagara Falls

Next weekend is your chance if you’re looking to give away some unneeded belongings to people who need them more.
The City of Niagara Falls recently announced that it’s partnering with the Environmental Action Committee to encourage residents to recycle unwanted, reusable goods on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
To participate, residents can place used items in good condition on their property for others to take. Residents can mark their items as FREE with Community Curbside signage found on the city’s website or create their own.
“This initiative gives useful objects a new life while keeping them out of landfills. It also encourages recycling, builds a stronger community, and contributes to a more sustainable city,” the city said in a news release.
Leftover items must be removed from the curb by 7 p.m. on Oct. 12 to prevent bylaw violations, as the city will not collect anything that hasn’t been taken. Anyone who wants to part ways with leftover goods can donate them to a local charity or contact the city to arrange a large item pickup.
Participants can promote their items using the City of Niagara Falls Community Curbside public Facebook event page or share photos on Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #nfcurbside.
Residents are asked only to offer products in good condition and to avoid placing objects where they do not belong (such as on the road or on a neighbour’s driveway).
