Niagara Falls has two off-leash dog parks and just in time for the long weekend, one of them has been shut down.

Niagara Falls Dog Park at Firemen’s Park (2275 Dorchester Road at Mountain Road) has been shut down indefinitely due to a wasp infestation.

The city didn’t say if any dogs or owners were stung before the realization that wasps were outnumbering all park users but noted it was “temporarily closed… until further notice.”

There still is one dog park open – Niagara Falls Bark Park at the Niagara Falls Humane Society (6025 Chippawa Parkway, near Stanley Avenue).

The city says if dog owners have any maintenance requests or questions, they can call the Municipal Works Service Centre at 905-356-1355.
