Double shooting leaves one dead, one injured in St Catharines

A suspect remains at large following a shooting incident last night in St Catharines which left one man dead and sent a woman to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday (Jun 10) shortly after 9:30 p.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were called to the area of St. Paul St W / Louth in the City of St Catharines following the report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police say they located two victims — a man who was pronounced deceased at the scene and a woman who was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers say the woman was transported to a hospital where she currently remains in stable but critical condition where the injuries appear to be life-threatening.

Investigators were assisted by  Emergency Task Unit members and the K9 officers conducted an extensive search of the area.

Officers say the suspect at this time remains outstanding, along with the firearm used in the shooting.

Police believe the suspect is armed and dangerous.

Although the investigations are ongoing, there is no information to suggest that there is a continued risk to public safety

However, detectives say they have enough information to believe that it was a targeted incident.
