With most entertainment completely cancelled last year, the acts are slowly starting to trickle back into the Avalon Theatre at Fallsview Casino and Resort in Niagara Falls.
April is shaping up to be a stronger month after restrictions dropped further twice in March, allowing the public better access to entertainment venues once again.
And they’re going a little more country and not so rock ‘n’ roll much at the theatre this coming month.
On Friday (April 1), it kicks off with down-south “You might be a redneck if…” comedian Jeff Foxworthy.
Now the largest selling comedy-recording artist in history, as well as a multiple Grammy Award nominee and best-selling author of more than 26 books, Foxworthy is still best known for his redneck jokes though these days, his act goes well beyond that to explore the humour in everyday family interactions and human nature.
Next up from April 6 through April 10 is a tribute to the world’s best know, top selling folk-rock duo of all time – Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. Simply called “The Simon & Garfunkel Story,” the show is an immersive concert-style theatre show chronicles the amazing journey shared by the pair.
Using state of the art video projection, incredible lighting and a full live band, The Simon & Garfunkel Story is a moving and powerful concert featuring all the hits such as “Mrs Robinson,” “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “The Sound Of Silence” and many more.
April 11 and 12 will see the return of a previously cancelled show starring 1970s hit-maker Tony Orlando. A well-known Las Vegas act these days, Orlando had multiple number one hits in the 70s with his back-up singers, two women collectively known as Dawn. His show brings “exhilarating energy, warmth and humour” along with his biggest singles such as “Tie A Yellow Ribbon ‘Round The Ole Oak Tree”, “Candida” and “He Don’t Love You (Like I Love You).”
It’s back to the country on April 20 as group Home Free bring their “Dive Bar Saints World Tour” to the Alavon Theatre. Lead by their four vocalists Tim Foust, Rob Lundquist, Austin Brown, Adam Chance, as well as beatboxer Adam Rupp, the showmen electrify crowds with a one-of-a-kind live show, mixing Nashville standards, soaring originals, and quick witted-humour that brings audiences to their feet with energy and laughter.
On April 21 and 22, the country continues as multi-platinum, RCA Records Nashville global entertainer, Chris Young brings his act to the stage. As well as membership in the iconic Grand Ole Opry, Young has six CMA nominations, four Academy of Country Music nominations and two Grammy nominations. He most recently won Performance of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. These accomplishments and more have landed him in the Top 20 of Billboard’s top country artists of the decade.
And finally on April 30, it’s the button-down “Dad humour” of comedian Jim Gaffigan, a six-time Grammy nominated comedian, actor, writer, producer, two-time New York Times best-selling author, top touring performer, and multi-platinum-selling father of five. Gaffigan has become one of the world’s highest grossing stand-up comedians, known around the world for his unique brand of humour, which largely revolves around fatherhood and his observations on life.
