A man who allegedly drove off-road through two fenced areas and a driveway in Niagara is facing impaired driving charges.
Niagara police say that shortly before 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 7, officers were called to investigate reports of a possibly impaired driver in St. Catharines. Police allege that a silver 2018 GMC Terrain was involved in a single-car crash after leaving the Glendale Avenue and Welland Canal Parkway roadway.
Police say the vehicle travelled approximately 125 metres off-road through two sections of fencing and across an adjacent driveway near Lock 3 of the Welland Canal when multiple vehicles and pedestrians were in the area.
The driver was eventually seen walking away from the vehicle barefoot, according to police.
He was arrested in the Wellington Street North and Regent Street area in Thorold.
Police say Thorold man Robert Hill, 45, is facing impaired driving-related charges.
