A Fort Erie man has been charged with sexually abusing a minor.

The investigation began this month after Niagara Police investigated an allegation of child sexual abuse happening in a Fort Erie home.

Sean Schneider, 50, of Fort Erie has been charged with sexual assault on a person under 16 and sexual interference with a person under 16.

The police say the victim, an adolescent male, and Schneider knew each other. The investigation revealed that the suspect may have been operating an unlicensed babysitting/daycare service out of his home.

As a result of the investigation, detectives have reason to believe there may be additional victims.

He was arrested yesterday (July 6) and was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the lead child abuse detective at 905-688-4111, option #3, extension #1009463.
