Four young offenders from Hamilton were arrested last night (October 19) after going for an expensive joyride through Niagara Falls in a stolen SUV.
The Niagara Police quickly descended to the Victoria Avenue and Morrison Street area at 10 pm after hearing of the stolen vehicle. Once there, the cruisers attempted to box in the stolen gray Ford Explorer.
Trying to escape, the SUV rammed a cruiser and then mounted a curb, knocking over a cement trash-can. That was the end of the joyride.
The police quickly arrested two 17-year-old and one 16-year-old men and one 17-year-old woman.
The 16-year-old male driver was charged with dangerous driving, possession of stolen goods over $5,000 and failing to comply with probation.
The 17-year-old woman was charged with possession of stolen property, as were the two 17-year-old men.
Damage to both the SUV and the police cruiser is estimated at $5,000. There were no injuries.
