In the wake of the news that GO Transit service would be increased between Union Station and Niagara Falls just as the Victoria Day weekend had begun, the service provider just announced it was also getting cheaper.
GO Transit just announced that day trips to Niagara Falls will be just $10 for a one-day weekend pass (Saturday or Sunday or any holiday Monday) and $15 for a full weekend pass.
“Who’s ready for some proper weekends? Weekends spent at the beach, chilling with refreshments on the patio, taking a day trip to Niagara Falls or simply having a backyard visit with people who live on the other side of the Greater Golden Horseshoe,” said the service provider, which also noted kids 12 and under ride for free.
During that day or weekend, the pass will offer unlimited bus or rail journeys between any starting point and any designated destination. But it also offers a chance to get off the transit at any point to visit friends and then hop back on at your leisure.
“Do you reside in Barrie and want to take your family to Niagara Falls? Its also possible to include your extended family who may live along the way. You could start in Barrie and meet up with your folks in King City. Then make a second stop in Oakville to meet up with your sister and her family. Then proceed all the way to Niagara Falls.”
Weekend service is provided via Lakeshore East, Lakeshore West (all the way to Niagara Falls), and Barrie, so there are many of options from which to select.
However, the weekend passes are only available online. You simply purchase the pass of your choice and the scan code will land in your email.
As for Niagara Falls, when passengers land at the GO Station, “the local WEGO bus connection is not included. If required, you will need to purchase a WEGO pass to be able to board the bus.”
