A retired father and grandfather in Niagara Falls is one of Ontario’s newest millionaires.
Paolo Zambito of Niagara Falls won the Ontario 49 top prize worth $2 million in the May 4 draw, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission said in a press release today (May 22).
Zambito, a father of two and grandfather of eight, has played the lottery for more than 30 years, according to the release.
He got a surprise while out running errands recently and checked his lottery tickets.
“I screamed! There were so many zeros, I couldn’t think straight,” he told OLG while picking up the winnings at the prize centre in Toronto. “I’m living the dream! I can’t explain this feeling. I haven’t been able to sleep for the past few days with all this excitement.”
Zambito doesn’t have many plans yet for the windfall.
“I plan to put some of my winnings in savings, and to share with my family. I think I will also buy myself a nice dirt bike,” he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls.
