Heat warning issued for multiple days in Niagara Region

Residents in Niagara are encouraged to drink plenty of water and stay cool for the next day or two as Environment Canada issues a heat warning for the region.
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says a two-day heat event warning is in place and is expected to continue until early Tuesday (Aug 30) affecting Niagara Falls, Welland, St. Catharines, and Grimsby areas.
Maximum temperatures are likely to hit the low thirties, but humidex values push those temperatures to feel like the mid to high thirties.
ECCC issues heat warnings when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the air quality health index approaching the high-risk category.
Signs of heat illness can be identified as swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, and the worsening of some pre-existing health conditions.
Environment Canada encourages residents to drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty, and seek a cool place such as a tree-shaded area, swimming pool, shower or bath, or an air-conditioned place like a public building.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
