Highly-anticipated Mexican restaurant set to takeover site of former Italian hotspot in Niagara-on-the-Lake

The picturesque town of Niagara-on-the-Lake is about to welcome a restaurant specializing in a cuisine that’s not common in the area, and residents are thrilled.
Recently, a post appeared on a NOTL neighbourhood Facebook group that showed a picture of the now-closed Twisted Vine Kitchen and Market with brand new signage that reads “Twisted Bar Mexican Cuisine.”
While the new restaurant doesn’t appear to have much online presence yet, the owners of the popular St. Catharines restaurant Chile and Agave confirmed that the NOTL eatery is their brand new venture.
“Yes, we’re excited to announce that we’re opening a Mexican restaurant in NOTL,” a Chile and Agave representative told INsauga.com, saying that the news of their latest outpost is spreading quickly.
Chile and Agave, which opened in 2011, is known for its fresh guacamole, questo fundido, nachos, tacos, enchiladas, fajitas and more.
The representative said that the restaurant is expected to open at the end of this month, but they have to wait for their liquor licence.
“After all, tacos just aren’t the same without a cold cerveza.”
When asked what will be on the menu, the representative said diners can expect “tacos, guacamole, nachos, cerveza and lots of tequila.”
The reaction to the Facebook post was swift, with residents saying that while they miss the old Italian hotspot that used to call the Niagara Stone Road building home, they were excited that the town was about to welcome what very well might be its only Mexican restaurant.
“Omg I would drive there from Beamsville just for good Mexican,” one poster wrote.
Another suggested it would be a good fit for the town’s Virgil community.
“Exactly what we needed! Feliz!”
