A study conducted by real estate brokerage Zoocasa shows that June house sales in the Niagara Region have jumped 102 per cent since January.
With 594 housing units sold in June, that means January sales were roughly just shy of 300.
The Zoocasa study analyzed home sales and prices in 23 regional markets across Canada to determine where the most homes are being sold.
Leading the pack was the Guelph area which saw a 387.3 per cent hike from January to June, selling 424 units. In straight numbers, that means in January roughly 110 homes were sold.
“Following a slow 2022, national sales have increased by well over 100 per cent in almost all major Canadian markets since January, despite the continually low inventory and the ever-increasing prices,” said Zoocasa.
Based on the study, Niagara finished 21st out of 23 markets for a percentage increase.
As well, the national average for a home price was listed at $760,600 while the average in Niagara was considerably lower at $667,100.
