Lincoln get $23K grant to bring in digital specialists for local businesses

Lincoln has received a $23,000 grant from the Ontario government program “Digital Main Street” to help their small businesses join the high-tech online age.

Trained specialists will work directly with small businesses to help them adopt online technologies and digitally transform their sales, marketing, and back-office operations.

The Digital Service Squad (DSS) will start visiting Lincoln businesses, starting August 30.

Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton said the town was happy to have DSS back for the third straight year to help their businesses “especially as many of them are still recovering from the effects of the pandemic.”

“The $2,500 Digital Transformation Grant can make a significant impact on small businesses,” she added. “I strongly encourage all eligible Lincoln businesses to apply and take advantage of the programming offered through Digital Main Street.”

Paul Di Ianni, Lincoln’s Director of Economic Development added that the program is an opportunity that supports the town’s commitment to business retention and expansion, the attraction of new investment, marketing, and talent and workforce development.

In addition to main street businesses, Di Ianni said, the Digital Service Squad will also target Lincoln’s tourism-based businesses that do not fall within the designated main street areas.

“COVID-19 has hit our business community hard,” said Di Ianni, “and many of these businesses need the support to enhance their digital presence.”
