Lincoln, Pelham both announce EV charging stations projects

Both Lincoln and Pelham are moving into the future and setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in their neighbourhoods.
While Lincoln’s plan is a little more ambitious with 21 potential EV charging stations slated, scattered around the town, Pelham is planning to put two at their Meridian Community Centre.
Lincoln got $105,000 in funding from the Natural Resources Canada’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program, Pelham got $100,000 in support from Pollution Probe’s CHARGED program.
Nonetheless, the EV charging stations represent a first for both municipalities.
“The introduction of EV charging stations in Lincoln represents a crucial step towards a greener and more sustainable future for our Town,” said Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton.
“We are proud to implement such eco-friendly initiatives, and these charging stations will serve as a testament of our commitment to environmental sustainability.”
Through strategic planning and collaboration, Lincoln has identified convenient locations to install these charging stations for both residents and visitors who own EVs. The future charging station sites are outlined below:
Jordan Village Public Parking Lot (3763 Nineteenth St) – 9 Parking Spaces
Municipal Administration Offices (4800 South Service Rd) – 4 Parking Spaces
Rotary Park (5020 Serena Dr) – 4 Parking Spaces
Vineland Public Parking Lot (Victoria Ave and Tallman Dr) – 2 Parking Spaces
Charles Daley Park (1969 North Service Rd) – 2 Parking Spaces
In Pelham, the chargers will be in a dedicated parking area located on the south side of the Meridian Community Centre and will accommodate charging up to four vehicles at a time. The level three charging stations will have payment software built into the station.
“This funding will allow the Town to install fast charging stations at the Meridian Community Centre that will expand the availability of publicly accessible EV chargers in Pelham,” explained Pelham CAO David Cribbs.
“Town of Pelham council established environmental and climate adaptation as a priority within the current strategic plan, and once installed, the EV chargers will align with the goal of focusing on action items that continue to put Pelham in a position to be a strong steward of the environment.”
