Major grocery store opens in Niagara Falls, brings 130 new jobs

A full-service Metro grocery store opened in Niagara Falls on August 24, bringing 130 new jobs to the area.
Now the 131st store in the Canada-wide chain, the 44,000 square-foot store in the southwest part of the city, officially known as Metro Niagara Falls, features a store decor with photos of local landmarks.
As it does with each store opening to support local communities, Metro donated $10,000 to Project Share, which is affiliated with Feed Ontario, a long-time partner for Metro’s food recovery program One More Bite. The program has distributed more than 23 million kilograms of food between 2016 and 2022.
Amongst the features of the new location are free electric vehicle charging stations and online click-and-collect ordering.
“This new store is a true reflection of Niagara Falls. We are giving customers what they want including an expanded health and wellness offering, local products through our Locally Sourced program, and a great selection of ready-made meals including stone-baked artisan pizza and fresh rotisserie chicken,” says Joe Fusco, Metro senior vice president after the opening.
“It is important to us that our store integrates with the community, so we’ve tailored our product offering and store décor to the neighbourhood,” he added.
