A man is facing multiple armed robbery-related charges following incidents at two different banks in Niagara.

Niagara Regional Police say the first incident happened on Nov. 21, shortly before 11 a.m. A man entered the CIBC branch on Victoria Ave. in Lincoln, brandishing a firearm. The suspect approached a teller, demanded cash and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The second robbery took place a little over two weeks later, on Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m., at the TD Canada Trust branch on Scott St. in St. Catharines.

Similarly, a man armed with a firearm demanded cash from a teller before fleeing. The amount stolen in this case also remains unknown.

Investigators later determined that the same suspect was responsible for both incidents.

On Dec. 12, Isaiah Sharpe, 29, of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm, two counts of being disguised with intent and possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order.

Sharpe remains in custody and was scheduled for a bail hearing on Dec. 13 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
