Man dead after being struck by pickup truck in St. Catharines

Police say a man has died in hospital after being struck by a vehicle in St. Catharines.

Niagara police say that shortly after 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 4, first responders were called to the scene of a crash involving a white Ford 150 pickup truck and a male pedestrian on Lake Street.

Police say the man was in critical condition when officers arrived on the scene, and paramedics and firefighters provided treatment before he was transported to the hospital.

“The male tragically died at the hospital due to his injuries,” police said in a news release.

The crash is currently under investigation.

Lake Street has been closed between Carlton Street and Dunlop Drive and the closure could be in place for most of the morning. Drivers are asked to find alternate routes.
