Man dies in a Niagara Falls park; homicide investigating

A man died in a Niagara Falls park and police are searching for a suspect in his death.
Emergency crews were called to John Allan Park, near Kalar Road and McLeod Road, for a report of a disturbance on Wednesday at 2:49 p.m., Niagara Regional Police said.
When officers arrived they found a man suffering from critical injuries, police said.
Despite the efforts of paramedics and fire crews, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police said officers with the K9 Unit searched the area but did not find a suspect.
The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
Police said the investigation is in its early stages and detectives are attempting to develop a description for the unknown suspect.
There is no information to suggest that there is an immediate threat to the safety of the public stemming from this incident, police added.
The public should expect to see a heavy police presence in the area for the next couple of days, during which time the park will remain closed.
