Man dies in house fire in Niagara Region; police investigating

A man has died in a house fire in Niagara Region.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze in the Beaverdams Road and Baker Street area of Thorold on Oct. 13 shortly after 8 a.m., Niagara Regional Police said.

Reports indicate the home was abandoned.

The rear of the home was completely engulfed in flames, police said.

Police said Thorold Fire Department battled the blaze and found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries as a result of the fire.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police, the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the Coroner are investigating.
