A Niagara-on-the-Lake man says his recent lotto win is a big runner-up in terms of milestones.
Recently, OLG announced that Kenneth Carpenter won an Ontario 49 second prize worth $50,000 in the Aug. 14 draw.
Carpenter, 34, told OLG he has been playing the lottery for about 15 years, but this was his first big win.
“When I realized I had won, I was very excited and my heart was racing. I completely froze,” Carpenter told OLG.
“Even now, it feels surreal! I am filled with so much joy!”
Carpenter decided to share his news with his aunt and uncle first.
“They were silent when I first told them. Once they processed the news, they were so happy for me. Winning the lottery is basically the second-best day of my life. The best will always be the day I met my partner,” he said.
Carpenter says he’ll use his win to invest, look into taking a driving course, and consider purchasing a new car.
The winning ticket was purchased at Petro Canada on Mississauga Street in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
