Man stabbed and beaten early Canada Day in St. Catharines

A man suffered serious injuries from a stabbing and beating early Canada Day morning in St. Catharines.
Emergency crews responded to a report of a stabbing in downtown St. Catharines at 2:20 a.m. July 1, Niagara Regional Police Service said in a press release.
When officers arrived in the area of St. Paul Street and Garden Park (near Carlisle Street), they found a man in his 20s suffering “serious injuries” from the beating and stab wounds, police said.
He was transported to hospital for what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
It appears the man had an argument with a group of people in front of a nightclub on James Street near St. Paul Street, police said.
“The argument escalated into a physical fight in the area of St. Paul Street and Garden Park,” police added. “The physical fight continued to the front doors of a near by hotel on St. Paul Street near Carlisle Street.”
Two men then ran from the area and officers were unable to find them.
Police are developing suspect descriptions but are currently looking for one Black man and one Caucasian man.

Also, police ask anyone (residents or businesses) in the area with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras to review their footage for suspicious activity for the period between 1:45 a.m. and 3 a.m. on July 1.
