Ontario, Niagara, Welland, police, wanted, assault, charges, pepper spray,

Four drivers were arrested in St. Catharines after RIDE stop found them to be impaired.

Niagara Regional Police set up a RIDE stop at Burleigh Hill Dr. and Dalecrest Ave on July 27. The officers stopped more than 250 cars that night and asked if they had consumed any drugs or alcohol. Four of these drivers were required to provide a breath sample. No one was arrested for impaired driving.

However, police did hand out two provincial traffic tickets. One for a car that did not have a muffler and another for excessive noise.

“The Niagara Regional Police Service remains committed to reducing impaired driving offences through education and the apprehension of offenders byway of enforcement programs such as R.I.D.E.” police said.

While last night was a good night, Niagara police will continue their patrols as impaired driving is still the leading criminal cause of death in Canada.
