New lakeside residential development closer to reality in Lincoln

A large residential development on the shores of Lake Ontario in Lincoln just got closer to reality.
The Town of Lincoln’s Committee of the Whole approved a comprehensive zoning by-law at its June 29 meeting. This update will facilitate a proposed mixed-use residential development called Prudhomme’s Landing.
Prudhomme’s Landing is a proposal for 1,559 residential units including apartment buildings, townhouses and detached homes along with employment, commercial, natural environment, park and open spaces on approximately 31.64 hectares. The property is on North Service Road, generally located east of Victoria Avenue North and west of Jordan Harbour.
The zoning by-law updates specific to the Prudhommes development area will allow for more density and adjust the range of land uses according to latest market trends and community needs.
Town of Lincoln Mayor Sandra Easton says the community needs more development.
“We are pleased with the purposeful plan that was presented last night that targets growth in our community to appropriate areas and ensures Prudhommes will be a community that is inclusive, sustainable, and helps fill the housing availability gap here in Lincoln,” the mayor said after the committee of the whole meeting.
Lincoln Council will discuss and possibly ratify the by-law at the upcoming council meeting on July 11.
