An affordable parking pass exclusively for Niagara Falls residents is now available.

Recently, Mayor Jim Diodati announced that the Resident Convenience Parking Pass has arrived and can be purchased for $35. Good for two vehicles for an entire year, the pass allows residents to park for up to two hours on any Niagara Falls road with on-street metered parking.

According to the city’s website, the pass was created to make parking more accessible for residents. Residents interested in the pass can apply online or through a written form. Only two license plates can be registered per pass per household, and the applicant must provide proof that he or she lives in the city.

The pass is not available to drivers who do not live in Niagara Falls, even if they operate a business in the city.

The pass is non-transferable and can be replaced for free if it’s damaged. Lost passes can also be replaced, but a $10 fee will apply.

“The pass may be used for up to two consecutive hours in a single zone per day in the same parking space. A violation will be issued if you re-park during or after the two hours,” the city’s website reads, adding that the permit holder must abide by all rules and conditions in the parking zones.

Permit holders cannot park for more than hours, and the passes are not valid in municipal or private parking lots or in Niagara Parks Commission properties. The pass must displayed when being used, as cars without visible passes could be ticketed.
