New power station tunnel gives spectacular view of Niagara Falls

Visitors who wants a spectacular new and previously unavailable view of Niagara Falls only need to go down about 18 storeys below ground level and walk through a tunnel about six football fields long to get it.
The brand new Tunnel at the Niagara Parks Power Station, which opened last July, does precisely that. Visitors take a glassed elevator that descends 180 feet (55 metres) to a tunnel that’s 2,200 feet (670 metres) long that leads out onto a platform with a magnificent view of both the Canadian Horseshoe Falls and the American Falls.
Even the elevator ride is an eye-opener, according to Niagara Parks. “Get views of the power station’s hidden decks as you descend into the tunnel in a glass-paneled elevator. Dig deep into the rich history of the century-old power station as you explore this engineering feat from an incredible new perspective, 180 feet beneath the main generating floor.”
“This all-new attraction uncovers a never-before-seen underground world and reveals more fascinating details about Niagara’s incredible story of power.”
They continue, “Make your way down into the tunnel in a glass-enclosed elevator and prepare to witness a breathtaking panoramic view of the falls from the viewing platform at the edge of the Niagara River.”
The Niagara Parks Power Station is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Regular admission is $28 for adults and $18.25 for children, or $37 for adults and $24 for children for those who want a full guided tour.
