After yesterday’s (June 19) unidentified threat, all Niagara-area Catholic schools are open with the hold-and-secure lifted but Niagara Police are questioning its origin.

The Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) said late yesterday in a release that the police had contacted them and said, “The Niagara Regional Police Service continue to actively investigate this threat. At this time, the police have discovered no evidence to suggest the threat originated from within Canada.”

While that statement is certainly is an unusual one, it would seem to put some distance betweenyesterday’s threat and last week’s anti-Pride-flag protest in the NCDSB headquarters’ parking lot.

At this point, the threat to the individual school that placed all 57 schools in the board under the hold-and-secure still remains unidentified by either the board or the police.
