Niagara Falls beats Taj Mahal and Grand Canyon as world’s ‘best loved’ landmark

If you live in southern Ontario, you won’t need a plane to get to the world’s “most loved” landmark. It’s within driving distance.
According to Bounce, a luggage storage network, their recent study showed Niagara Falls to be the “most loved” landmark in the world, edging out contenders like Taj Mahal, the Grand Canyon, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Statue of Liberty.
The study looked at a number of factors for popular landmarks across the globe, including annual visitors, admission fees, Tripadvisor ratings, and Instagram posts.
Niagara Falls scored a stellar 9.22 out of 10, far distancing second-place finisher Taj Mahal, which rang up 7.67 out of 10.
Among the top scores was the fact that visiting Niagara Falls is free, it attracts 11.7 visitors and 18 million Google searches a year and gets nearly 3.5 million Instagram posts annually.
The next highest Canadian landmark was Banff National Park at ninth.
Niagara Falls’ also leads the list in film locations for Canada with over 142 movie credits on IMDb.
Apart from the falls themselves, there are lots of other attractions in the area, including the popular Clifton Hill, a treasured area filled with arcades, food and tourist attractions.
Also drawing a lot of attention is the new underground tunnel at the Niagara Parks Power Station that allows people to walk out to a spectacular view of the falls at ground level.
