Niagara Falls fireworks shut down for the entire weekend

Niagara Parks has shut down the nightly fireworks display over the weekend (June 9 to 11), due to the lingering effects of the wildfires in northeast Ontario and Quebec.
Niagara has been under Air Quality watches since mid-week due to the drifting smoke coming into the region from the fires.
This will be the first weekend that Niagara City Cruises, owned by the Hornblower Group, will not be able to offer its 40-minute Falls Fireworks Cruise that began on May 19 at the beginning of the Queen Victoria long weekend.
At the moment, the Falls Fireworks Cruise, which positions passengers directly below the display for maximum effect, were running Friday to Sunday.
However, beginning June 16, the Falls Fireworks Cruise were slated to sail daily until Labour Day on September 4.
With the five-minute fireworks display going off nightly precisely at 10 pm, the cruises left at 9:30 to catch the spectacle.
After the weekend, Niagara Parks said they will re-assess when the fireworks will resume. “We will continue to monitor the serious fire situation and updates regarding return of the fireworks programme will be announced on Monday June 12.”
In 2022, the fireworks ran from Victoria Day weekend through to Thanksgiving for 144 consecutive days. The plan was to do the same this year until the wildfires caused their cancelation, which now stands at five consecutive days.
