Niagara Falls jumps feet first into Hamilton’s Grey Cup festivities

When the Canadian Football League held a major press conference in Hamilton yesterday (August 15) to announce the festivities attached to hosting the 110th Grey Cup this November, Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati was in the thick of things.
While the CFL championship is slated for Sunday, Nov. 19 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, the party starts much earlier in the week with celebration activities beginning on Nov. 13 throughout The Hammer.
Since the Niagara Region is stacked hard with Hamilton Tiger Cats fans, Diodati wanted to make sure the CFL fans know that Niagara Falls is just down the road and hosting a few parties of its own.
Since CFL fans fly into the city for the celebrations every year, there are a few events for Canadian footballers to enjoy in Niagara Falls, starting with an official Welcome Party in the Avalon Theatre at Fallsview Casino Resort, as well as the 2023 CFL Awards being held at the casino’s OLG Stage on November 16.
“The ‘meat & potatoes’ of the Grey Cup Festival games will be hosted in Hamilton, but since the Niagara Peninsula has garnered international recognition & is the world’s largest producer of icewine, it’s only fitting for Niagara Falls to be serving the dessert!” said Diodati.
“Niagara Falls looks forward to hosting a special reception at the Fallsview Casino Avalon Theatre and the awards event at our new state of the art at the OLG Stage.,” he added.
While specifics have yet to be announced, Diodati promised the city with Canada’s biggest tourist attraction would be holding a few Grey Cup parties of its own, as well as a shuttle service between Hamilton and Niagara Falls.
“World-class entertainment will be officially announced soon and free, safe & reliable shuttle services will run from Niagara Falls to downtown Hamilton throughout the festival. We look forward to welcoming CFL fans to take a trip to Niagara Falls while enjoying all of the Grey Cup festivities!”
