Niagara Falls man charged in alleged online minor luring sting

Niagara Police has charged a Niagara Falls man who allegedly was trying to lure minors – those under 16 years old – on the internet.
The police raided his house this morning (August 3) and “seized several electronic devices used in the commission of an offence.”
Jeffrey Sims, 42, of Niagara Falls man has been charged with luring a child online to facilitate sex, luring a child online to make child pornography, and exposure to a person under 16 years of age.
He was held in custody after his arrest and is set to appear for a bail hearing today at the courthouse in St. Catharines.
Police called this sort of sting “Proactive Undercover Investigation” whereby their officers are trained by the Canadian Police College “to interact with online suspects who believe they are communicating with young persons for a sexual purpose.”
