Niagara Falls to be lit up in green to honour memory of St. Catharines woman

Yesterday (May 10), the worst possible news in the case of a missing St. Catharines woman was confirmed.
Katrina Blagdon, 37, had been missing since New Year’s Eve. She had last been seen on Dec. 31 in the area of Vansickle Road North and Martindale Rd. in St. Catharines.
Last week, St. Catharines Hydro employees working near the Heywood Generating Station in the Port Dalhousie area of St. Catharines discovered the body of deceased person in the water.
Tragically, a forensic pathologist-odontologist engaged by Niagara Police examined the body and confirmed it was Blagdon.
Since that time, hundreds of Niagara residents have posted on social media, asking Niagara Parks and Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati to back-light the falls in green in Bragdon’s memory.

This afternoon at 2 pm, Diodati confirmed that it was happening.
“Thank you all for the tags. The Falls will be illuminated green from 10:15-10:30 PM this Friday, May 13th in memory of our local Niagara resident Katrina Blagdon,” posted Diodati.
“A sad time for sure – our hearts go out to her family and all who knew her in our community,” he added.
