Niagara Falls woman charged with impaired after collision causes death

A Niagara Falls woman is facing serious charges after a collision with a 67-year-old Thorold driver caused his death.

This morning (Oct. 24) at 8:10 a.m., police were called to the scene on Beaverdams Rd. between Beechwood Rd. and Garner Rd. in Niagara Falls where two cars were involved in a serious collision.

The Thorold driver was treated for serious injuries from the collision, treated by Niagara EMS before he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said they believe the Niagara Falls driver, who wasn’t injured, was impaired and she was immediately arrested.

Zoey Anne Marie Hughes, 25, of Niagara Falls has been charged with impaired driving causing death and impaired driving exceeding the legal blood alcohol concentration.

She remained in custody, waiting for a bail hearing later today (Oct. 24) via video link to the courthouse in St. Catharines.
