A Niagara-area man received a welcome surprise months after a summertime lotto win.

Today, OLG announced that Casey Jarzabek, an entrepreneur from Thorold, won a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $103,636.30 in the June 15, 2024, Lotto 6/49 draw.

OLG says Jarzabek had been playing the lottery for decades and recently created an account when OLG launched subscription services on OLG.ca.

He told OLG that he liked knowing that his tickets would be routinely purchased on his behalf and that lost tickets would be a thing of the past.

His first big win came in June of this year, but it wasn’t until September that he realized he had a windfall waiting.

“I received a follow-up email from OLG about claiming my prize, and at first, I was uncertain of its authenticity. I always thought that if I won big through my subscription, my winnings would automatically be deposited into my OLG.ca account,” Jarzabek told OLG.

“I logged into my account and was shocked to see that I had won more than $100,000 back in June!”

His wife was out of town when he found out about his win.

“I called her and apologized for waking her up in the middle of the night. When I shared the good news, she was so happy and excited for us. Today is our 10-year wedding anniversary. Before coming here, my wife told me the best present she could receive this year would be a cheque for $100,000,” Jarzabek said.

“Winning has been an awesome experience and I hope to do it again.”

The winning ticket was purchased on OLG.ca.
