Niagara-on-the-Lake reopens doors on Community Centre, two arenas

For the first time since March 13, 2020, Niagara-on-the-Lake sports teams and community groups can get back into its Community Centre, as well as the Centennial and Meridian Credit Union Arenas.

Yesterday (September 7), the town let the public know that the three facilities were reopening their doors.

“This is great news for Niagara-on-the-Lake teams, clubs and organizations, many of whom have not been able to meet in person for a year-and-a-half,” said Mayor Betty Disero.

She credited staff for putting the proper protocols in place that will help resume “these much-needed social and athletic activities.”

Like most facilities, the Community Centre and arenas are subject to maximum capacities depending on the size of the space, the needs of the group, and the type of activity. Capacities will be posted outside of each room.

All persons entering the Community Centre and Arenas must comply with the following:
Be actively screened by a Staff member upon entry, or complete the Town’s screening tool at notl.com/screening in advance and show proof to Staff member upon entry;
Maintain a safe physical distance of at least 2 metres from other persons at all times;
Wear a face covering at all times unless engaged in an athletic activity (exemptions apply);
Program organizers are required to actively screen all participants (in addition to being screened by Staff upon entry);
Ice rental organizers must keep attendance records for up to thirty (30) days past the rental date.
