A rash of smashed windshields on parked cars in the east end of St. Catharines had lead to an arrest.

This month, Niagara Police started investigating the case after more and more motorists had complained about returning to their parked cars only to find their windshield damaged by what the police suspect was a hammer.

On March 18, Gerardo Miciano, 56, as caught and charged with two counts of mischief. He was held for a bail hearing and let go on a release order.

However, police believe more vehicles have been damaged than reported, particularly in the east end of St. Catharines so they’re asking anyone who has had their cars damaged to report it now.

Owners can contact their  Communications Unit at 905-688-4111 or use their on-line reporting system by visiting our website at: http://www.niagarapolice.ca

As well, police are asking residents and businesses in the east end of St. Catharines with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras to review their footage for suspicious activity between February 28th and March 17th.

Anyone with footage they believe to be of assistance can contact 905-688-4111, extension #1009628.
