Niagara Police have arrested one man and remain on the lookout for others after a group of men forced their way into a Thorold home.

The police say that a woman answering the door of a home in the Tara Crescent and Commerford Street area on February 5 suddenly found herself overpowered as “multiple unknown males” pushed their way in. Once in, they held a knife to her throat.

While details on the purpose of the home invasion remain untold other than that appeared to be a “targeted incident,” the police did say she was unharmed in the attack.

After investigation, police have arrested one man.  Zachary Durant, 26, of no fixed address, was charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, break and enter on a dwelling, uttering threats and pointing a firearm.

He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The police are continuing the investigation as they believe “other unknown parties were involved in the incident.”

Anyone with information, who may have been in the area or  who may have video surveillance is asked to contact Detective Constable Gordon at 905-688-4111, ext. 1008429 or Crime Stoppers with further information.
