Niagara Police are trying to reconstruct a collision between two large vehicles yesterday (Feb. 22) in Fort Erie that sent a 64-year-old Port Colborne man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to Point Abino Rd near Fox Rd at 11:45 am, along with the Fort Erie Fire Department and Niagara EMS, where they discovered a Ford Expedition and a Kubota Rugged Terrain Vehicle had collided.
Both vehicles were heading north on Point Abino when they got into the accident but the driver of the Kubota, a 64-year-old Port Colborne man, had to be immediately taken to the closest hospital.
From there, he was airlifted to an out-of-town hospital “for advanced medical care.” He remains there for serious life-threatening injuries.
Police says the cause of the collision is still under investigation and are asking residents with CCTV footage that captures Point Abino Road and/or Fox Road, and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash-camera are encouraged to review their footage.
If anyone has information or footage, they are asked to contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option 3, badge 1009089.
