Niagara Police still hunting for suspect in Thorold sexual assault

Niagara Police are continuing to ask for the public’s help in a sexual assault case that occured in Thorold in the area of Ormond Street South and Lyndon Street East on September 7.

Due to further investigation, police now believe there were members of the public or possible witnesses in the area within minutes after the offence occurred and are asking residents to check their closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or dash cameras for the timeframe between 6:45 pm and 8:45 pm on September 7.

The initial investigation by police uncovered that five kids had been swimming in the area and were walking on a trail in the area of Ormond Street South and Dock Road in Thorold.  

A male suspect approached the group and sexually assaulted one of them.  The suspect then took off on foot.

He is described as white male, 40 to 50-years-old, medium build with a ”belly” and gray-black “scruffy” facial hair. He was wearing a ball cap, gray or black shirt  and baggy jeans

The 12-year-old victim was not physically injured. See the map below for the exact location.
